Fast

Life Orb Passive Agressive
Moveset EVs
~ Fast
~ Play Cricket
~ Gandhi
~ Shotgun
252 HP / 6 Atk / 252 Spe

This is really darkie's only even semi-effective set. It plays similar to that of the other Indians; however, darkie's large HP makes him ideal for fasting, and he is the only Indian with access to a Shotgun. The idea here is that when you suspect your opponent will bring in a white pokemon, you can use Gandhi on the switch to put them in a tight spot. Then if you Fast, you can reduce your own HP in order to kick your opponent's pokemon off of their team. Cricket and Shotgun are there for coverage. Like most Indians, darkie has low defense, and his base attack is equal to the number of Shiva's arms in Mortal Kombat, but with clever play you should be able to use darkie several times a match.

Gay Attacker

Leftovers Naughty
Moveset EVs
~ Shotgun
~ Play Cricket
~ Substitute
~ Gay Attract
252 SpA / 252 Spe / 6 Atk

This set makes use of the fact that darkie learns Gay Attract. If your opponent brings in another male pokemon, you can use Gay Attract to reduce their chance of attacking by 50%, and then use Substitute as they either switch or fail to attack you. You can then sweep with darkie's STAB Shotgun and STAB Play Cricket. Dark / Curry doesn't have amazing coverage, but with proper team support you can easily score a sweep. Note that darkie has no effect on female pokemon, and that he can use leftovers here since he is not running a Fast set.

Name Item Nature

Hindu Transform!

Elephant Spray Yes
Moveset EVs
~ Avatar of Ganesha
~ Elephant Dance
~ Elephant Trample
~ Elephant Trumpet
252 SpA / 252 Spe / 6 Atk

Just like darkie, this set is very simple. On the first turn, you use Avatar of Ganesha to transform darkie into an elephant. After that, you can use Elephant Dance to confuse your opponent, Elephant Trample to paralyze your opponent, and finally Elephant Trumpet to cause an immediate 2HKO due to Elephant Spray's effect. Unfortunately, even though everyone knows that rhynoceroses are way cooler than elephants, darkie is restricted by his religion.

Other Options

With only 6 base Atk, darkie really has very few options outside of fasting and special attacking. If you're feeling crazy, you can run a Swords Dance set with Swords Dance / Punch / Kick / Sword of Shiva, but darkie's low attack pretty much ensures that all of these moves will be very weak.

EVs

If you are running a fasting set, you should always max HP. This will allow you to fast for longer periods of time before darkie must eat some curry. darkie's special attack is already high enough that it does not need EV's, so you should then focus on his speed.

If you are running a special sweeping set, you should always max Speed and Special Attack. It is also good to remember that, no matter which set you are using, you should always have 6 EVs in Attack, since that is the number of arms that Shiva has in Mortal Kombat.

Opinion

Darkie is a huge asshole, as evidenced by his 101 base speed. This allows him to outspeed all base 100 pokemon by two points, effectively making him a total douchebag. His high special attack is great, but his overreliance on curry as a source of power makes him difficult to use effectively.

Despite all this, darkie is actually a pretty cool pokemon. Even though he has only been around for 15 years, he looks way older. Like 17, at least. He also lives close to Nastia Liukin, but because of his...condition, he cannot approach her.

The benefits of his dual typing are few, but useful nonetheless. His resistance to Spices and to the Sun make him a good choice to switch into the average Fire- or Curry-type. The cool resistance is useful against cool pokemon such as Milotic, Penguin, TAY, and Tapioca Express.

As for his life, it's rather average. However, he does have some spiffy glasses and a very (read: extremely) small amount of STAB wit, which goes some way in compensating for his less than stellar self.

His hair, like his life, is a mixed bag. While it helps him seduce the ladies in conjunction with his sexy (albeit fake) Indian accent, it limits the Pokemon you can choose to use alongside him, as few non-Indian types enjoy having to hang out with a guy who is constantly trying to steal their girlfriends. If his hair got any longer, darkie could conceivably be confused with Kal Penn, but as it is now his eyebrows are probably too large for standard play. Overall, darkie is very much a "hit and miss" Pokemon.

Counters

  1. Machamp
  2. Any pokemon with the move "Thief" can steal darkie's curry, effectively rendering him a sitting duck.
  3. Since darkie's main attack, Play Cricket, only has 8 PP, it is very susceptible to PP Stall from Pressure Pokemon such as Zapdos, Giratina, and Vespiqueen.
